New Music Director for Autumn 2022

New Music Director for Autumn 2022

29th of August, 2022

At the end of our summer concert we bid an emotional farewell after eight years to our musical director Robert Brooks. Robert grew with us over his tenure, developing the choir's vocal sound, performance and musicianship and expanding our repertoire with a number of joyful discoveries, particularly of contemporary female composers. He guided us through lockdown with online practice, exploring new genres and composers and sight reading skills to keep us challenged. He then led us through the challenges of returning to music-making as a face to face choir last season with his usual calm, cool and confident manner. We will miss his energy and enthusiasm, not to mention his dancing skills.

In Robert's place we are delighted to welcome Marc Murray as our new MD. Marc has wide experience as a choral director and accompanist, working with a range of choirs in the region, in addition to being Director of Music at Bury Parish Church. Marc's Info at www.marcmurray.co.uk.

We will be starting rehearsals with Rutter Requiem, and several Vaughan Williams pieces next Monday 5th September at 7.30pm. The date of our next concert TBA. We welcome new faces and if you would like to join us please contact Martin our Chairman or come along to a rehearsal.
